YOUR LOO COULD
SAVE YOU
LIFT THE LID ON YOUR HEALTH
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, yet it’s still hard for many of us to talk about.
But your toilet could tell you more than you think — and noticing early signs can make all the difference.
Got a poo test? Do it now.
If you're aged 50 or over, you’ll receive a free NHS bowel cancer screening kit in the post. It’s quick, easy to do at home and can help detect early signs of cancer — even before you have symptoms. Most people get a normal result, which can put your mind at rest. But if something needs looking into, the sooner we act, the better.
Don’t ignore it. Do the test. Send it back.

Got symptoms? Get checked.
You don't have to be over 50 years old to get bowel cancer. It can affect adults of any age, and the earlier it’s found, the easier it is to treat. So, if you notice something unusual - contact to your GP practice.
Know the signs and symptoms to be aware of at any age:
A change in your normal bowel habits - such as needing to poo more often or feeling like you haven’t emptied your bowels properly
Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo
Losing weight when you haven’t been trying to
Frequent pain and/or a lump in your tummy
Feeling breathless
Feeling a lot more tired than usual
Please don’t ignore symptoms even if you’ve had a normal result from a home screening test. It’s always worth checking.
